It was a tie in the Ladies Cup today, where competitor Mirjam Pol and Annie Seel seemed to switch the lead throughout the entire course. At check point 3 Mirjam was in the lead by 4 minutes 23 seconds. Then there was a last turn in favour to Annie who won the stage on a 60th position. This was Annies fourth stage win in the 2010 Dakar rally. Mirjam Pol reached the finish 3 minutes and 18 seconds behind Annie, on a 63rd position on the stage.

Total length of todays stage was 670 kilometers, and the special stretch 483, the stage of today starting in Copiapo and finished in Antofagasta, Chile.

Remarkably all five women in the Ladies Cup are still in the game, though the grueling Dakar has claimed it´s victims the first five stages. Today top rider David Casteu (FRA) fell badly and withdrew due to a broken leg.

Italian Gianetti passed the 339 kilometer mark in an 81rd position, followed by German Christina Meier on a potential 96th position , British Tamsin Jones passed the 244 mark at 103rd.

Well done ladies!

As always! Keep cool - the Dakar is the Dakar!
