STAGE 6: ANTOFAGASTA-IQUIQUE
The Dakar in South America
Swedish motorcyclist Annie Seel has given her point of view on the stages in South America!
Stage 6: Antofagasta - Iquique
There will be plenty of dust on todays stage, it could cause some problems when it comes to navigation. Part of the stretch is off-pist and may whipe the dust up. To be able to have faith in the decisions you make in your navigation there is the importance of clear vision and sight. At the same time its a rapid stage, to keep up the speed is importan. This one of the legs where it will be easy to get caught in the "free spaces", meaning you just about start to distinguish whats up ahead of you, when the dust of the rider up front of you is clearing up. But make no misstake, if you leave the distance to the dust cloud just a bit, you will be overtaken by the rider behind you. By the end of the leg, the last 50 kilometers will be in the dunes, a typical "African-style" challenge. Passing the last dune, a 30 kilometer stretch, overviewing the ocean will end todays stage. That view has got to be something!
