Wild idea, perhaps and most likely! However there is an Andrea Mayer listed as driver in one of the trucks for the BMW X-raid team, could it possibly be THAT Andrea, Andrea from way back when? Competing for years on the motorcycle (KTM and BMW), winning the Ladies Cup several times. Followed by starting in the car category in the Mitsubishi team? Nah...But then again it would make perfect sense! Stephane Peterhansel in the BMW X-raid team, who was her team mate in the Mitsubishi team. And BMW who she did compete for on the motorcycles. Well, wouldn´t that just be the greatest? Historical return...adding the truck category as well, she would be the first female participating in three disciplines if so I would assume. Time will tell which Andrea is behind the stearing wheel of that truck!

It is THE Andrea Mayer who will drive that truck. You are right, she is going to be the first woman to compete in three categories on Dakar. Still she is not the first ever. Elisabete Jacinto started on bike back in 90's and in 2002 she entered Master Rallye behidn the wheel of Toyota. But no car Dakar start for Portugese Amazon.
