Reigning Dakar champion Annie Seel from Cordoba, Argentina, after todays stage:
"On my way to the start this morning I realized I had a major problem needed to be fixed immediately, gas was coming out of one of the tanks. Anyone who´s tried this out knows it takes some time to disconnect the tank system, poor out the gas, fix the tank, get it back in place, reconnect and fill it up again... but that was the task needed to be carried out. Knowing this would mean I would run late to the start, losing important minutes. Bad! While I was mounting the fuel tank back I was thinking to myself that I would have LOVED to have a great start in the rally, a clean cut, being there on time, relaxed, focusing and getting ready, but just a second later I actually smiled about it and thought: this is the Dakar alright, and as long as I can fix the problem, it´s actually not a problem at all, and after this stage there will be a new one, and many more to come. The race has only just started"
